🎮 Claude Plays Pokémon and Outsmarts GPT-4

Anthropic’s newest model, Claude 3.5, isn’t just smarter, it’s also learning by playing Pokémon.

WIRED got early access to Claude 3.5, and the benchmarks show it outperforming GPT-4 on coding, reasoning, and memory tasks. It now powers Artifacts, a live workspace where Claude can write code, edit documents, or plan projects collaboratively, hinting at a shift from chatbot to AI co-pilot.

But the most charming signal of its evolution? A Twitch stream. A few months ago, Anthropic launched Claude Plays Pokémon, where the model plays Pokémon Red live on stream. It analyzes the game screen, makes strategic decisions, and navigates battles with minimal direction. It’s a clever (and public) demo of Claude’s reasoning and planning skills; and a preview of what longer-context, multi-modal agents could look like in practice.

For founders, this marks another milestone in the agent race. If you’re building on top of AI, your tools may soon need to think more like players than predictors.
