Startup polygamy: Silicon Valley’s most viral employee

Photo by Glenn Carstens-Peters on Unsplash
Soham Parekh, a gifted yet controversial software engineer, has gone viral after multiple Silicon Valley founders revealed that he secretly held jobs at several startups simultaneously—often without the companies' knowledge. The drama began when Playground AI’s CEO, Suhail Doshi, publicly outed Parekh on X, prompting a cascade of similar stories from other founders. Despite being repeatedly let go for moonlighting, Parekh was continually rehired thanks to his strong technical skills and polished interviews, even landing roles at Y Combinator-backed startups.
In a recent interview, Parekh admitted to juggling multiple jobs since 2022, claiming it made him a better programmer, though he acknowledged the toll on his health—boasting an alleged 140-hour workweek. He said financial hardship pushed him to take on so many roles, but details remain murky. Despite widespread backlash, Parekh appears to be attempting a comeback, briefly announcing he’s now working solely at a startup called Darwin Studios—though both he and the company quickly deleted the announcement. As with many viral tech scandals, his story may be evolving from exposé to business opportunity.

Layoff olympics: CEOs compete for bleakest AI prediction

Photo by Samuel Holt on Unsplash
CEOs across corporate America are increasingly treating AI’s impact on jobs as a high-stakes prediction game, with bold forecasts becoming a form of competitive posturing. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei recently warned that AI could eliminate half of all entry-level roles within five years, potentially driving U.S. unemployment to 20%. Other leaders, including those at JPMorgan, Amazon, ThredUp, and Ford, have echoed and escalated such warnings—predicting significant white-collar job losses and company-wide workforce reductions. While some tech voices still downplay these concerns, the growing frequency and severity of executive predictions suggest that large-scale restructuring driven by AI may be imminent.
