🕶️ Elon wants Vine back. Europe just wants order.

Humanoids are moving from hype to hardware

brought to you with

AI drama is heating up on both sides of the Atlantic. While Perplexity's been caught creepin’ (again), scraping sites that clearly said “do not touch,” Europe is taking the high road—quietly deploying humanoid robots with real-world impact instead of flashy demos. Meanwhile, OpenAI’s ChatGPT is sprinting toward 700M weekly users, Google’s AI bug hunter just flagged 20 security flaws, and Tesla wants to hand Musk another $29B amid an AI talent war.

Perplexity caught creepin’ (again)

Cloudflare has accused AI startup Perplexity of deliberately bypassing website restrictions by disguising its web crawlers to scrape content from sites that explicitly blocked such activity. According to Cloudflare, Perplexity ignored Robots.txt rules, spoofed its user agent to appear as a regular browser, and switched networks to evade detection—resulting in millions of unauthorized requests daily across tens of thousands of domains. While Perplexity denies the allegations and claims the bot in question isn’t theirs, this isn’t the first time the company has faced accusations of unauthorized scraping and plagiarism. Cloudflare, which has recently launched tools and marketplaces to combat AI-driven content theft, has since removed Perplexity from its list of verified bots.

While the US demos, Europe deploys

While the U.S. and Asia continue to dominate humanoid robotics headlines with flashy demos and billion-dollar investments, Europe is quietly charting a different course—one defined by clear regulation, disciplined development, and deployment-focused innovation. The EU’s AI Act and other regulatory updates offer a coherent framework that de-risks robotics for investors, encouraging long-term commitment over speculative hype.

Rather than chasing attention, Europe is building modular, industry-integrated robotics ecosystems supported by EU programs like RI4EU and EIC Accelerator. With strong funding (e.g., Neura Robotics’ €120M round) and proximity to real-world use cases, the continent is positioning itself to lead the next era of robotics—not by who moves first, but by who moves best.
