Mira Murati goes big with $100M AI startup after OpenAI exit

Mira Murati, ex-OpenAI CTO, is stepping into the startup world, reportedly eyeing over $100M for a new AI venture. Known for her pivotal role in OpenAI's groundbreaking advances, Murati now seeks her own AI exploration, as her new startup plans to build proprietary AI models, adding another player to the sizzling AI market. 

Barret Zoph, a notable researcher who departed OpenAI alongside Murati in late September, is also rumored to be involved in her new venture. However, he has not commented on the matter. Reports suggest Zoph is starting his own company, while Murati has been recruiting OpenAI employees for her project.

Before joining OpenAI in 2018, Murati had roles at Tesla and Leap Motion. In 2022, she stepped into the position of CTO at OpenAI and served as interim CEO for a short time during a leadership transition. Read more!
